Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal to pause the devastating war in the Gaza Strip, multiple officials announced Wednesday, raising the possibility of winding down the deadliest and most destructive fighting between the bitter enemies. Yet Oliver McTernan, founder of the NGO Forward Thinking, fears that “it’s almost a spoilers’ dream that is on offer” with the deal, as opposing factions will continue in their attempts to scupper the peace efforts.
