The town of Ramstein has been the site of a US airbase since the 1950s, and around 50,000 American military personnel and their families call it home. But, following remarks from the Trump administration casting doubt on the US military’s future presence in Europe, locals fear that the Americans could soon leave, taking the €1.4 billion they spend in the local economy every year with them.
