As French President Emmanuel Macron began a three-day trip to Saudi Arabia, Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called for Lebanon to hold fresh presidential elections in the wake of a shaky ceasefire between Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and Israel. Macron and Saudi’s MBS call for presidential elections in Lebanon

French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Monday for presidential elections in Lebanon after a fragile ceasefire agreement went into effect there. 

“Together, they called for the holding of presidential elections in Lebanon with the aim of bringing the Lebanese people together and carrying out the reforms necessary for the stability and security of the country,” Macron’s office said after the two leaders met on the first day of a state visit by the French president to Saudi Arabia.
