Four Israeli soldiers killed in south Lebanon, Israeli military says

The Israeli military on Sunday said four soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon, bringing to 36 the total number of Israeli soldiers killed since the start of ground operations on September 30.

The soldiers “fell during combat in southern Lebanon,” the army said in a statement, adding that they were killed on Saturday.

Israel emergency service says dozens of casualties as truck hits bus stop

Israeli authorities say dozens have been wounded after a truck slammed into a bus stop north of Tel Aviv Sunday.

“At 10:08 am (0808 GMT), a report was received… of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon… Paramedics are currently providing medical treatment on site to dozens of casualties,” the Magen David Adom rescue service said in a statement.

At least 16 people were initially transported to nearby hospitals, the emergency service said in a later update.

Police confirmed multiple injuries and said the circumstances behind the incident weren’t immediately clear.

Iran’s supreme leader says Israel’s attack ‘should not be exaggerated nor downplayed’

Iran’s supreme leader said Sunday that Israel’s attack on Iran this weekend “should not be exaggerated nor downplayed,” though he stopped short of calling for retaliation.

“The miscalculations of the Israeli regime must be disrupted. It is essential to make them understand the strength, will, and initiative of the Iranian nation and its youth”, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.

He added: “It is up to the authorities to determine how to convey the power and will of the Iranian people to the Israeli regime and to take actions that serve the interests of this nation and country.”

Khamenei’s remarks are the latest suggesting Iran is carefully weighing its response to the attack. Already, Iran’s military has said a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip or Lebanon trumps any retaliatory attack on Israel, though Iranian officials also have said they reserve the right to respond.

Palestinian officials say Israeli strikes have killed 22 people in northern Gaza

Israeli strikes on northern Gaza have killed at least 22 people, Palestinian medical officials said.

The Gaza Health Ministry’s emergency service said that 11 women and two children were among those killed in the strikes late Saturday on several homes and buildings in the northern town of Beit Lahiya. It said another 15 people were wounded and that the death toll could rise.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

Lebanon state news agency reports Israeli raid on southern Beirut

Lebanon’s state news agency on Sunday reported an Israeli raid on southern Beirut, after Israel’s army issued a fresh evacuation call.

The official National News Agency said shortly after midnight that Israel had “targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut”.

The Israeli army had earlier urged residents of two neighbourhoods in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital to evacuate their homes.

“You are located near Hezbollah facilities and interests, against which the IDF will operate in the near future,” military spokesman Avichay Adraee said in a post on social media platform X, using an acronym for the Israeli army.

The evacuation call included maps showing buildings that would be targeted in Burj al-Barajneh and Hadath.
