‘Massive’ Russian attack causes outages in Ukraine’s Odesa, mayor says
A “massive” Russian attack on the southwestern Ukrainian port city of Odesa left a large residential area without heat or electricity, the city’s mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov said on Telegram.
In a separate post he said that 14 schools and over 500 homes were without power, adding that at least one person had been hospitalised.
Trukhanov did not provide any further details about the nature of the attack.
Ukraine attacks oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region, governor says
Ukraine has attacked an oil refinery in the city of Syzran in Russia’s Samara region overnight, the regional governor said.
“Emergency services are working on the territory of the enterprise. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties,” Vyacheslav Fedorishchev wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
He did not specify whether the refinery had been damaged. Baza and Mash Telegram channels reported that the attack caused a fire.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defence systems had destroyed nine Ukrainian drones overnight – over Bryansk, Tatarstan and Tula regions and the Black Sea.
Russian wealth fund sees US companies returning in 2025
Russia’s sovereign wealth fund expects a number of US companies to return to Russia as early as the second quarter of 2025, TASS quoted the head of the fund, Kirill Dmitriev, as saying.
“But the return process for American companies will not be easy, as many niches are already taken,” he said.
